It Is Time
The moment you've all been waiting for; My WALL-E review!
First and foremost, WALL-E is probably the sweetest love story I have ever seen. There's something oddly romantic about two beings in love that can only say each others names. Speaking of speaking! This movie has VERY little dialogue, and it really works for the film. I don't know how PIXAR does it, but you really feel for these characters even though they say nothing. Another major thing I noticed about WALL-E is how beautiful it is. When we see space for the first time I couldn't stop looking around, and even the barren, deserted, trash-covered Earth has this grand beauty to it. I only have a few gripes and one isnt even really relavent.. that is sometimes you feel the movie being cartoony and hokey, but it is a kids movie after all so it is forgiven. It just took me out of the moment. The other is the lack of dialogue. The movie does a great job of telling it's story without words, and maybe it's because no one is really used to silent movies anymore, but on a couple of occasions I caught myself longing for someone to say something. Other than that, the movie was above and beyond what I expected and I am thoroughly excited to see how it fares in the overall summer box office.
Now for future reviews! On Monday I would LIKE to have a review of Hellboy 2 but, it isn't playing at MY theatre this weekend and chances are I wont be able to take a trip to see it elsewhere SO if that doesnt happen I'll more than likely do Hancock (which is getting VERY mixed reviews). And of course, you can expect Dark Knight to be reviewed on the 21st, if not sooner from excitement...
